It's been years, but just this morning - while sorting through things for a future garage sale - I came across my B/B collection and did a walk down memory lane. Came across a binder in which I'd collected numerous B/B things, including correspondence I'd had with Nan, all those many years ago - pre-computers - done via snail mail. I was saddened to google Nan's name and fine that she'd passed away. I loved her writings....

I worked with Nan for 5 years and a more interesting person I have yet to meet. She was funny and charming and a delight to be around. My life was more interesting because I knew Nan Dibble. Rest in Peace Nan.

"There are no words."
I am in tears tonight, the night before your birthday, having just discovered your flight from this world. Two years ago. You were such a private person, you conspired even in this business of leaving the world, and you got away with it because we respected your privacy.
Nan taught me to contribute. Nan taught me to write. Nan taught me that it's all small stuff.
Nan was my friend.
Nan was a HELPER.
Ah, man. The world is a darker place.

I have treasured my copy of Beyond Hope, Beyond Silence and hope one day to find Bright Spirit Descending. Her writing was a gift to us all, but particularly to the die-hard Beauty and the Beast fans. Best wishes. Jayne

I only just found out about Nan's passing. I did not know Nan, but had corresponded with her briefly, congratulating her on her contributions to the fan-fiction community, and urging her to continue her work.
My condolences to her family.

Having tremendously enjoyed Nan's Kantmorie books when originally published, I looked for years under "D" of the science fiction section of the bookstore for more titles, and annually scanned the SF awards lists for her name, in vain. Now I see she was leaving a different kind of legacy, in the hearts and minds of legions of fans and writers, across the years and around the world.
Last year I introduced my teenage son to her trilogy, who enjoyed it as much as I had. What a wonderful tribute it would be if her last two Kantmorie books could be made available in an English language version, perhaps as online ebooks.
As my personal tribute to Nan, in the unpredictable way of real life, she made me a better mother. Her description of the psychic impact Jannus' love had on Poli when she was resurrected made me conscious of always greeting my children with love, joy, and gratitude for their presence in my life. Much the way I now feel about Nan.

Thank you Nan, just for being "you".
There is a place in many hearts where you are held safe, resepected, loved.
You will be missed.

My heartfelt sympathy goes to Nan’s brother and her closest friends.
Her loved ones can be proud of her work. Every writer I’ve informed of Nan’s passing has expressed sadness. It would to difficult to find a professional writer who does not own Nan’s book Plot, which she wrote under the pen name Ansen Dibell. One of the best tributes to her came from Nebula and Hugo award-winning author Orson Scott Card, in his book How to Write Science Fiction & Fantasy. Card doesn’t even attempt to discuss plot – he simply refers everyone to Nan’s book! I believe that work will continue to be a valuable resource for writers for many years to come.
